Dr. Funk
March 27, 2007

Last week I was kind of down in the dumps, in a funk. So I called my doctor, Dr. Funk (by strange coincidence his name is the same as my symptoms), and I told him that I thought I had broken my Funny Bone.
Dr. Funk gave me several recommendations to get me back on my feet:
More exercise - -so I’ve been riding my bike in the mornings, enjoying the spring air and flowers.
More music of a cheerful sort – my current favorite is Swedish pop band Komeda’s “What Makes It Go?
More caffeine — even though it upsets my stomach, a little french press or green tea frappuccino makes me downright cheerful!

I see a quilt here, I also think your funny bone is just hiding and not very well.
That Dr. Funk sounds like I pretty smart guy.
With the winter you have had it would not be a surprise that you are experiencing a little “funk down.” Take some “me time” and try some Zumba dancing or some type of fun group exercising so you can talk and laugh with others. I like a good chai tea latte. Go see some funny movies. Wild Hogs is a good mood elevator… cheap medicine - matinee pricing $5.00. Your bright colors and wry humor pick up our days and maybe that will give you a lift.
Mambo music does it for me everytime!
It’s all a question of getting from being in a funk to feeling funky - I always find that being outside watching the ducks and their antics is a great restorative. Also I find that looking at my postcard of Kees Van Dongen’s Modjesko, Soprano Singer in MOMA gives me a good laugh. Hope your funny bone is well on the way to restoration.
Interesting word, FUNK, isn’t it? We can say something is “funky” and that’s a good thing, but when we’re in that state of being, it doesn’t feel so good…
I completely understand - and I LOVE the Doctor!
I like the way your doctor thinks! Who wouldn’t benefit from a little more of those three things. Hope you’re better.
