When I lived in TX I took classes at a studio for years when my kids were in school. I loved it, wheel and hand building. I often carved designs in my clay that came from thinking about quilt stitch designs. When I moved to Chicago from L.A., I had no place for my wheel and donated it to an art center in Pasadena. waaaah! You are so lucky to have the room for all that equipment.
